JP: 伊万里焼/いまりやき
General name for porcelain products which are made in and around Arita town. From the late 17th century onwards, the products were taken to the port of Imari just to the north of Arita for export, which is why they became known as Imari-yaki around the world.
These days however, the term Imari-yaki is used to describe the pottery and porcelain products which are made in Imari city, Saga.
